Databricks: You Own the Backup Problem
September 29, 2026
Databricks is a cloud analytics and AI platform. We read their terms so you don't have to. Here's what sticks.
๐ด Silence means yes. If you keep using Databricks after they change the terms, you've accepted them. No separate agreement required. PayGo customers especially should watch their inboxes.
๐ด Your cloud, your mess. Databricks secures their infrastructure, but you're responsible for locking down your environment and backing up your own data. They're not your backup plan.
๐ด Security is ISO-standard. They maintain ISO/IEC 27001:2022 or equivalent controls. That's the baseline they're committing to. It's not a guarantee โ it's a floor.
๐ก Support stops at the docs. You get documented support unless your Order says otherwise. No extras unless you negotiated them upfront.
๐ข Data agreements are there. A Data Processing Agreement covers personal data handling and is built into the contract. At least they didn't bury it.
B-grade here means real obligations exist, but the backup burden and auto-consent mechanism are things to negotiate around if you can.
This breakdown is based on Databricks's publicly available Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy. It may contain mistakes. Spot one? Let us know.
