JetBrains Terms: Free to Change, Your Data Not So Much
September 23, 2026
JetBrains makes developer tools. Their terms are a mixed bagβsome solid safeguards, some real rough spots.
π΄ Terms can shift without notice. You keep using it, you've accepted whatever changed. No announcement required.
π΄ Anything you post becomes public property. JetBrains disclaims responsibility for what happens to it. Post it, lose control of it.
π‘ Website content is licensed to you, not owned. You can use it, but only for non-commercial purposes. Everything else is off limits.
π‘ Access can be revoked anytime, for any reason. No warning, no explanation. If JetBrains decides to pull the plug on your access, it happens.
π’ Clear lines on malicious behavior. Hacking, unauthorized access, and abuse are explicitly prohibited. At least they're direct about what breaks their rules.
Grade B reflects the volatility: unilateral changes and aggressive content control weigh it down, but the anti-abuse language and lack of predatory monetization keep it from worse.
This breakdown is based on JetBrains's publicly available Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy. It may contain mistakes. Spot one? Let us know.
