Zoom Phone: D-Grade Terms Built Around One-Way Control
September 20, 2026
Zoom Phone's terms hand the company broad control over your service while limiting your ability to challenge them. Here's what you're agreeing to.
Zoom offers cloud-based phone and communication services. The grade is D.
π΄ Arbitration clause blocks class-action lawsuits (Section 27) β If something goes wrong, you can't join others in court. Disputes go to binding arbitration. Zoom does this. You don't have a choice.
π΄ Zoom can modify or kill services whenever it wants (Sections 2.1 & 15) β Features you use today can disappear tomorrow. Zoom decides, alone. No compensation required.
π‘ You're liable for everything your users do (Section 4.1) β If someone on your account breaks the rules or breaks the law, that's on you. Zoom steps back.
π΄ Zoom accesses your content without asking (How Do We Use Personal Data?) β Communications, meetings, messagesβZoom can look at them for legal reasons, safety, security, or support. No separate consent required.
π’ Zoom doesn't train AI on your calls (How Do We Use Personal Data?) β Your audio, video, chat, and messages stay out of model training. This one's clean.
The arbitration clause plus unilateral service control is the real problem. You lose leverage. Zoom doesn't.
